A booking will only be considered confirmed once:

  • The booking has been accepted by The Dock Studio.

By booking any course, class or service with The Dock Studio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these payment terms.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

The Dock Studio understands that unforeseen circumstances may arise. The following Cancellation and Refund Policy has been created to ensure fairness to all students, clients and staff whilst allowing us to effectively manage classes, services and studio availability.

12 Week Acting Courses

If you are unable to attend a 12 Week Acting Course after booking, you must notify The Dock Studio as soon as possible.

Refunds or transfers are not guaranteed and will be considered solely at the discretion of The Dock Studio. Once a course has commenced, refunds will not normally be issued for missed sessions or if you choose to withdraw before the course has ended.

Weekly Members Classes

Weekly Members Classes are booked and paid for in advance in four week blocks.

No refunds will be given for payments made towards Weekly Members Classes if you are unable to attend, choose to withdraw, or miss any classes within a booked four week block. Any exceptions will be considered solely at the discretion of The Dock Studio.

Youth Members Classes

Youth Members Classes are also booked and paid for in advance in four week blocks.

No refunds will be given for payments made towards Youth Members Classes if a participant is unable to attend, chooses to withdraw, or misses any classes within a booked four week block. Any exceptions will be considered solely at the discretion of The Dock Studio.

Self Tape Sessions

If you need to cancel or rearrange a Self Tape Session, please notify The Dock Studio as soon as possible.

Alternative appointments, credits or refunds are not guaranteed and will only be offered at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio.

Cancellation by The Dock Studio

On rare occasions, The Dock Studio may need to cancel or reschedule a class, course, session or event due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to tutor illness, venue issues or unforeseen operational requirements.

Where this occurs, we will make every reasonable effort to:

  • Offer an alternative date or time.
  • Provide a credit towards a future booking where appropriate.
  • Issue a refund where no suitable alternative can be offered.

Exceptional Circumstances

The Dock Studio recognises that exceptional circumstances may arise. Any request for a refund, transfer or credit outside of these Terms and Conditions will be considered on a case by case basis. Any decision will remain solely at the discretion of The Dock Studio.

Deferred Course Start Dates

The Dock Studio understands that, in some circumstances, a participant may be unable to begin a booked course on the scheduled start date.

Requests to defer a course start date may be considered on a case by case basis and will remain entirely at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio.

Where a deferred start date is approved, The Dock Studio will endeavour to offer a place on a future course, subject to availability.

A deferred start date is not guaranteed and may not be available in all circumstances. Approval of one deferred start date does not create an entitlement to any further deferrals.

Participants requesting a deferred start date should notify The Dock Studio in writing as soon as reasonably possible.

Cancellation Before a Course Begins

If you wish to cancel your place on any course provided by The Dock Studio, you must notify The Dock Studio in writing.

Where written notice of cancellation is received 14 days or more before the course start date, you will be entitled to a refund of any fees paid, less any reasonable costs already incurred by The Dock Studio in preparation for the course where applicable.

Where cancellation is made less than 14 days before the course start date, refunds will not normally be issued. However, The Dock Studio may, at its sole discretion, offer a full or partial refund, credit or deferred course start date depending on the circumstances.

In determining whether a partial refund is appropriate, The Dock Studio may take into account reasonable costs already incurred, including but not limited to administration, venue costs, production expenses, course materials, staffing, equipment hire and any other non-recoverable costs associated with preparing and delivering the course.

Any refund, credit or deferred course start date outside of this policy will remain entirely at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio.

Acceptance

By booking any course, class or service with The Dock Studio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to this Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Missed Classes

Failure to attend a booked class, course or session without prior notice will be treated as a missed attendance.

Missed classes, including Weekly Members Classes, Youth Members Classes and Self Tape Sessions, are not refundable and will not normally be rearranged unless otherwise agreed at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio.

Commitment to Training

Students are encouraged to attend consistently and participate fully in all activities. Regular attendance supports personal development, builds confidence and ensures continuity within each class.

10. Showreels

As part of the 12 Week Acting Course, students may be offered the opportunity to participate in professionally produced showreel scenes. Whilst participation in the showreel programme is included as part of the course experience, it is optional and remains subject to the following Terms and Conditions.

Participation

Students who choose not to participate in the showreel programme must notify The Dock Studio in writing as soon as reasonably possible.

If, after confirming your participation, you become unable to attend the allocated filming week(s) or your availability changes for any reason, you must inform The Dock Studio immediately so that alternative arrangements can be considered.

Availability

Students wishing to participate in the filming of showreel scenes must make themselves available for the entire filming week(s) allocated by The Dock Studio.

Although each student will normally only be required for one filming day, participants are asked to remain available throughout the filming week(s). This is necessary due to the scheduling requirements of our production team, The Dock Studio staff, fellow students and filming locations.

The Dock Studio will always aim to provide as much notice as reasonably possible of filming dates.

Showreel Availability Forms

Prior to the start of the course, students will receive a Showreel Availability Form.

If you are unavailable on any dates during the proposed filming week(s), you must notify The Dock Studio by listing these dates on your availability form before the course begins.

If your availability changes after submitting your form, you must inform The Dock Studio in writing as soon as possible so that alternative arrangements can be considered.

Casting and Creative Decisions

All showreel scenes are written by The Dock Studio and produced in collaboration with our production team.

The Dock Studio is solely responsible for casting students, allocating scenes and making all creative decisions relating to scripts, characters, filming and the final edit.

All creative decisions are final.

Inability to Attend

If a student is unable to attend during the allocated filming week(s), or withdraws from the showreel programme after filming arrangements have been made, The Dock Studio reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to offer that filming opportunity to another student.

Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate changes in availability, this cannot be guaranteed and will depend entirely upon the availability of the production team, filming locations, The Dock Studio staff and other participating students.

Circumstances Beyond Our Control

The Dock Studio is committed to producing high quality showreel scenes for all participating students and will always endeavour to ensure that every student receives their completed showreel.

However, the production of showreels is dependent upon a number of factors outside of our control, including but not limited to weather conditions, location availability, equipment issues, illness, the availability of the production team, The Dock Studio staff and other participating students.

The Dock Studio therefore reserves the right to amend filming dates, times, locations, schedules or production arrangements where reasonably necessary to ensure the best possible outcome for all involved.

Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to complete all planned filming and deliver a finished showreel, The Dock Studio cannot guarantee completion where circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent filming from taking place.

Where filming is affected by circumstances beyond our control, The Dock Studio will endeavour to arrange an alternative filming date or make suitable alternative arrangements where reasonably possible. Any such arrangements will remain at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio and will be dependent upon the availability of the production team, locations, staff and participating students.

Acceptance

By enrolling on a 12 Week Acting Course and choosing to participate in the showreel programme, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to this Showreel Policy.

Guest workshops are offered as an additional benefit to our students and are subject to the following Terms and Conditions.

Guest Availability

All guest workshops are dependent upon the availability of the invited industry professional.

Whilst The Dock Studio will always endeavour to deliver all advertised guest workshops, we cannot guarantee the attendance of any guest speaker, tutor or industry professional.

Changes to Workshops

The Dock Studio reserves the right to amend, postpone, reschedule or cancel any guest workshop where reasonably necessary.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Changes to a guest's availability.
  • Illness.
  • Travel disruption.
  • Professional work commitments.
  • Circumstances beyond the reasonable control of The Dock Studio or the invited guest.

Where changes are required, The Dock Studio will provide as much notice as reasonably possible.

Alternative Arrangements

Where possible, The Dock Studio will endeavour to arrange an alternative date, time or replacement guest if a scheduled workshop cannot proceed.

However, alternative arrangements cannot be guaranteed and will remain at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio.

No Liability

Guest workshops form an additional part of The Dock Studio’s programmes and are not guaranteed elements of any course.

The Dock Studio shall not be held liable for the cancellation, postponement or rescheduling of any guest workshop, nor shall this give rise to any entitlement to a refund, reduction in course fees or other compensation.

Acceptance

By enrolling on any course or programme offered by The Dock Studio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to this Guest Workshop Policy.

12. Industry Opportunities

One of The Dock Studio’s aims is to provide students with opportunities that support their professional development within the performing arts industry. These opportunities are offered as an additional benefit of training with The Dock Studio and are subject to the following Terms and Conditions.

Casting Opportunities

Where appropriate, The Dock Studio may put forward students for auditions, castings or professional opportunities that we believe are suitable for their age, experience, training and the requirements of the project.

The Dock Studio cannot guarantee that every student will be offered the same number of opportunities, nor can we guarantee that any opportunity will result in an audition, recall or booking.

Industry Requirements

All casting decisions are made by the relevant casting directors, production companies, clients or other third parties.

The Dock Studio has no control over casting decisions, production requirements or the outcome of any audition or opportunity and therefore accepts no liability in relation to these decisions.

Communication with Agents

Where a student is represented by a talent agent, The Dock Studio will, where appropriate, liaise directly with their agent regarding any opportunities introduced through the studio.

The Dock Studio does not seek to replace the role of a student’s agent and does not charge commission for introducing opportunities. Our sole intention is to support the continued development of our students’ careers and work collaboratively with their professional representation wherever possible.

Suitability and Availability

Opportunities will be shared at the sole discretion of The Dock Studio and will depend upon the specific requirements of each project, together with the student’s suitability, availability and professionalism.

Students are expected to respond promptly to communications regarding opportunities and to notify The Dock Studio as soon as possible if they are unavailable.

No Guarantee of Work

Whilst The Dock Studio is committed to creating and sharing professional opportunities wherever possible, these opportunities are provided as an additional benefit of training and are not a guaranteed part of any course, programme or membership.

The Dock Studio cannot guarantee employment, professional representation, auditions, castings or paid work as a result of attending any of our courses or programmes.

Acceptance

By enrolling on any course or programme at The Dock Studio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to this Industry Opportunities Policy.
